GESPIN Conferences

RECENT: 8th GESPIN Conference: Nijmegen, 2023

After GESPIN meetings in Poznań (2009, 2017), Bielefeld (2011), Tilburg (2013), Nantes (2015) and Paderborn (2019), Stockholm (2020) the 8th conference on speech and gesture interfaces took place in Nijmegen, The Netherlands in 2023.

GeSpIn 2023 aimed to bring together researchers working on visual signals together with vocalization or speech, from multidisciplinary perspectives in order to exchange ideas and present the cutting edge of their field. GESPIN 2023 motif was: Broadening perspectives, integrating views.

7th GESPIN: Stockholm, Sweden, 2020

The 7th GESPIN took place at the Department of Speech, Music and Hearing, KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden (on-line). The motif of the 2020 conference was: Express, perceive, sense and generate – humans and technological systems in multimodal dialogue.

6th GESPIN: Paderborn, Germany, 2019

The 6th edition of GESPIN was held at Universität Paderborn in Germany and focused on the heterogeneity of the coordination of gestures with speech (including its prosodical, phonological, lexical, morpho-syntactical, semantic as well as pragmatic properties). Read more about GESPIN 2019.

5th GESPIN: Poznań, Poland, 2017

The 5th GESPIN conference has been endorsed by the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA) and was organized as an ISCA supported event. The 5th GESPIN conference was an official satellite event of INTERSPEECH 2017 international conference which will take place in Stockholm, Sweden on 20-24 August 2017. 4th GESPIN: Nantes, France, 2015

The 4th edition of GESPIN was held in Nantes, France in September 2015. The keynote speeches of the conference addressed three different aspects of multimodal interaction: gesture and grammar, gesture acquisition, and gesture and social interaction. 3rd GESPIN: Tilburg, the Netherlands, 2013

GESPIN 2013 was organized within TiGeR 2013: the combined meeting of the 10th International Gesture Workshop (GW) and the 3rd Gesture and Speech in Interaction (GESPIN) conference, and was hosted by the Tilburg center for Cognition and Communication (TiCC) of Tilburg University, The Netherlands. 2nd GESPIN: Bielefeld, Germany, 2011

GESPIN 2011 was held at Universität Bielefeld, and jointly organised by several institutions at Bielefeld University, Germany and Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan, Poland.
